  • 6th Annual UBOC

Saying goodbye to 2010 means saying hello to 2011. If you want to download free poker in the New Year, definitely consider UB because UBOC 6 is rapidly approaching. The latest UB Online Championship has 29 events including the $1 million Championship Event and a $750k High Roller event. There are 29 championship watches up for grabs, and there is even a Tournament of Champions for the winners of UBOC 2010. If you were thinking about using Ultimate Bet for Mac, you might as well take the plunge now!

The first tournament is the NL Hold’em Deep Stack event for a buy-in of $530. January 18th features the first Omaha event, so you can put your skills to the test and see if that free poker training paid off. If you like heads-up, Event 13 is the tournament for you, but do keep in mind that there is no late registration for this tournament.

The High Roller event is a $2,100 buy-in and takes place on January 23rd. The Championship Event features the biggest guaranteed prize pool, however: $1 million. The buy-in for this tournament is $1,050. If you are new to money poker sites and don’t want to commit to these stakes, you will have several chances to satellite into the events. The satellites start as low as 10 cents!

Another solution for people just starting with online poker rooms is Mini-UBOC. This series has 19 events, too, but the stakes are a fraction of the size. Obviously the prize pools will be much smaller as well, but first place in all the events will still be a handsome addition to your bankroll!

Some people have been waiting all year for UBOC, so fire up UB and join in on the action. If you own an Apple desktop, you are in luck since UB is one of the best Mac poker sites around. Good luck winning one of those championship watches!

  • Royal Flush Jackpot

If you want to download free poker and prefer to play Omaha, you should consider UB. They have a new Royal Flush promo that is similar to a bad beat jackpot. They made a progressive Royal Flush Jackpot, and when someone hits a royal flush, they win 50% of the pot. It is nice to hit the best hand in poker, but it is even nicer to hit it when there is extra cash involved.

If you already tried using the PartyPoker bonus code, you will know that certain tables offer the chance to win a bad beat jackpot. The loser of a bad beat wins 50% of the jackpot, and a percentage is also given to the other players that participated in the bad beat hand. You will see that the Royal Flush promo is very much like this bad beat promo. The person with the royal flush gets half the jackpot, the players dealt cards in the same hand share a quarter of the jackpot, and the last 25% goes to everyone else playing Jackpot tables of the same stake. A promo like this gives players more opportunities to win than at some of the other US poker sites!

An important fact to know is that only 65% of the jackpot is given out when someone hits a royal flush. The remaining 25% and 10% go to the next Jackpot and UB administration respectively. People that prefer the PokerStars bonus code might look down upon the fact that UB receives a fraction of the jackpot, but the folks at UB need to get paid somehow too!

If you want to win the Jackpot, you need to sit down at a Royal Flush Jackpot table. Free poker no downloads is a feature of UB, so you can play these tables even if you don’t want to download the software. The Jackpot is built up by taking 50 cents from every raked hand at these tables.

Mac poker fans excited about the Royal Flush promotion should take note of a few conditions when it comes to winning the Jackpot. At least four people had to have been playing the hand, and the hand must go to show down. Players sitting out at the time of the royal flush hand are not eligible for any share of the prize pool. If two Royal Flush Jackpot tables get dealt a royal flush at the same time, the hand that started first will be deemed the winner. I have to admit that if I hit a royal in the hand that started second, I would probably stick to my slot machine download for a while because I would be so upset!

If you are sick of Holdem and want to give Omaha a try, definitely consider UB. It is comforting that you are not required to download PokerStars if you are interested in the less common poker games. PokerStars is great but it is nice to have options!

  • UB TLB

If you want to download free poker, chances are you will probably want to play tournaments. Pretty much every major poker site has tournament leaderboards, so today I will tell you about the ones found on UB. Players are ranked on one of four leaderboards, and each leaderboard has cash prizes to be won.

Like on the other best US poker sites, you will be ranked based on a points total. The number of points received in a given tournament depends on the prize pool and where you finish. The same formula is used for both MTTs and SnGs.

Like many of the best Mac poker sites, UB has decided to have leaderboards for the week, month, and year. The weekly version takes your best 10 results, and $1k is awarded to the person that finishes on top. You’ll need 20 good results to win the monthly leaderboard, where the total prize pool is $14k and first place is $6.5k. And finally, the yearly leaderboard uses your best 100 tournament finishes, just like with the PokerStars Bonus code. There is an exclusive freeroll for the top 50 players. 10th through 1st place receive cash. If you can place in 1st or 2nd, you will also win a WSOP Main Event seat!

If you are new to Mac Poker sites, it might be wise to give SnG leaderboards a shot first. They are more friendly to new players since there are 3 separate divisions for different buy-in amounts. The Diamond division is for buy-ins less than $20. The total weekly prize pool for Diamond is $1,500 and the prize pool for the month is $5k. If you play between $21 and $50 buy-ins, you fall into the Heart division. There is a total of $3k up for grabs for the Heart division on a weekly basis and $7k up for grabs on a monthly basis. If you are prepared to quit playing Internet slots so that you have more time for poker, perhaps you should try buy-ins over $51 and make a run at the Spade leaderboard. This division awards $6,000 every week and $10,000 every month.

If you are excited about the leaderboards and the great prizes, you should definitely play as many tournaments as possible. Perhaps you should take a look at a few poker videos to improve your game. I daresay the prizes are well worth it!

  • Adam "Roothlus" Levy

Players looking to download free poker will be considering UB, so it would be good to meet another UB advocate in Adam Levy. Online players will know him as “Roothlus” because that is the name he uses on all US friendly poker sites. He was born in New York 28 years ago, and today he resides in Florida. He was a student working a job as a server before he started playing poker.

Levy’s cashes on the best online poker sites surpass the $3 million mark. An interesting thing to know about Levy’s online winnings is that he does not have a single win that exceeds $387.5k, yet his winnings are still well over the $3 million mark. This proves that he has been very consistent since entering the poker world. His $387,500 score was obtained by competing in an FTOPS tournament on his Full Tilt Poker download back in 2009. He also won $80k on Full Tilt in the $750,000 Guaranteed. His most impressive PokerStars score was a few years ago in the Sunday Million for almost $57k.

This UB pro has some live cashes in US poker rooms to be proud of, as well. He had his largest cash ever in this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event after going incredibly deep and finishing 12th. Missing the November Nine was very disappointing, but he must have been pleased to add an extra $635k to his bank account. Before this Main Event finish, his largest prize in a live tournament was for $266,445 in 2008.

Levy has his day mapped out perfectly when he plays online poker. He usually gets out of bed at least an hour prior to playing on money poker sites since he likes to do a couple things before getting on his computer. He prefers to have a good breakfast and a shower first thing. His music of choice while he is playing is, surprisingly, techno. And then, when he has finished playing on the best US poker sites, he jumps onto his XBOX and plays FIFA. Rigid schedules work well for some people and it would appear Levy is one of these people.

If you, like many others, would like to see results like Levy’s, there is no substitute for playing tons of hands and studying. You should find a great deal of free poker training on various websites so even the most inexperienced player should make progress fairly quickly.

  • Eric Baldwin

If you have the intention to download free poker but you can’t decide between all the US poker sites, you might be more inclined to join UB after learning about Eric Baldwin, another UB spokesperson. The 27 year old poker player has had great success with tournament poker since he turned pro. He was born in Wisconsin, so he was a student at the University of Wisconsin for a Psychology degree with a minor in Mathematics. He currently lives in Las Vegas.

Baldwin can be found on some of the best US poker sites, but he became famous due to live poker where he has over $3 million in cashes. His wins include one WSOP bracelet in 2009 in Event 34, a $1,500 buy-in with $521,932 for 1st place. He did quite well in this year’s WSOP as well, although he did not win another bracelet. He had his best cash in the Main Event where he placed 59th and received $138k in return.

The young player has also done well on the WPT. In late 2009 he won an event in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $256,660. In August 2009 he placed 3rd in a Legends of Poker event, and in 2008 he placed first in Event 2 for $148,860 in the Five Star World Classic Poker Classic. With all these live tournaments to attend, I’m sure Baldwin doesn’t have much time for a free slots download.

Since he is sponsored by UB, Baldwin also spends his time in online tournaments on the top Texas Hold'em sites. He has stated that online play differs from live play because preflop is much more aggressive online. He tries to earn most of his chips without showdown when he plays online in contrast to live where he will try to see as many flops as possible and win post flop.

Card Player named Baldwin the 2009 “Player of the Year”, so this UB spokesman definitely knows what he’s talking about. If you are new to money poker sites, be sure to carefully consider which site you choose. An Everest Poker download will benefit you, but go through my old articles to see what UB can offer you as well.
